Mijn eerste kennismaking met blackwork was op Black Friday, tijdens een mini-workshop. Het resultaat: zie foto's linksboven in de collages. Aangezien ik nog een smalle strook aida over had, ben ik wat gaan experimenteren met Kerst & winter gerelateerde patroontjes. Het is niet bij elk patroontje gelukt om de voor- en achterkant identiek te krijgen, maar het resultaat valt me zeker niet tegen.

Because of Black Friday a mini-workshop blackwork was given at a local store. It was fun to give it a try (for the result see the upper left pictures). As I did have some small leftover pieces of aide, I decided to experiment with some winter/ Christmas related patterns. Although not all of the backs look like the front, I am happy with the result.

Aangezien er nog genoeg wol over was voor nog eens 14 sneeuwpopjes, heb ik nog een krans gemaakt om weg te geven als cadeautje.

As there was enough yarn left to make another 14 little snow men, I made a second wreath to give away as a present.

Kerstwensen / Holiday Greetings

Na het maken van de krans(en) waren er nog sneeuwpopjes over. Met een Kerst en/of Nieuwjaarswens aan de sjaal zijn ze ook erg leuk om weg te geven.
Met een lusje op het hoofd kunnen ze ook opgehangen worden (bijvoorbeeld in de Kerstboom).

Little snowmen, with Holiday greetings added to their scarf, are fun to give away as alternative to a card. 
With a loop added to the head they are also very cute Christmas tree decorations.

While searching for a small Christmas themed x-stitch project, a series of 6 Santas turned up. I decided to make 2 this year and leave the others for next year (or not).

Kerstversiering / Holiday lights

Mijn tweede haak-project: kerstversiering. Gehaakte kerstlampjes, gevuld met fiberfill, om tussen de echte lampjes te hangen. Ik heb erover gedacht om om de kerstlampjes heen te haken, maar dit leek me toch niet zo veilig, ivm brandgevaar.
Het patroon is niet al te moeilijk en is ook voor beginners goed te doen (al is het begin wel even prutsen). Het is gratis te downloaden op Craftsy en www.dappertoad.com. Ik weet nu hoe ik een magische ring (magic ring) moet maken en heb het opzetten zonder lossenketting ontdekt. Lang leve Youtube!

Voor zowel de lampjes als het snoer heb ik katoen gebruikt, en haaknaalden 3,5 en 5, afhankelijk van de dikte van het katoen.

My second crochet-project: Crochet holiday lights. I thought about putting a real holiday light inside them, but discarded the idea due to safety issues and filled them with fiberfill.

The pattern is not difficult and suitable for beginners (although the beginning can be a little troublesome). A free download can be found on Craftsy and www.dappertoad.com. I learned how to do a magic ring and that there are alternatives for the foundation chain, that work even better. Yeah for Youtube!

For both the lights as the cord I used cotton thread, and hooks 3,5 and 5, depending on the weight of the cotton.

Deze pannenonderzetter is de eerste creatie waarvan ik digitale foto's heb.
Als eerste heb ik een raamwerkje van wol opgezet en langs deze draden ben ik gaan knopen met de weitas-knoop.
Afmetingen: ~18x20cm

This is the earliest project I could find any digital photos of. I am not sure if 'coaster' is the right word, but, by lack of an alternative, I will use it anyway.
First, I started with a raster made of yarn and used those strands as base for the 'weitas-knoop'.
