Blouse - BurdaStyle

Burda Kids 9393

It seemed so easy to make a pair of joggers for little nephew, but it took much more time than anticipated. Especially the pockets: both the back pockets and the side-seam pockets. To be honest: I am not used to sewing side-seam pockets at all and all seams and top-stitching have to line up perfectly before I am satisfied. But in the end they look great.

Instead of button holes I used metal eyelets to guide the cording, as I am not proficient in creating button holes. Especially when on a (tight) schedule. Most of the seams where done using a serger and top-stitched using 4-mm twin needles.

Shirt - Burda 2014

After a couple of years in the WIP-basket, this shirt is finally finished. The inside is not as neat as I planned it to be, but I don't care about that much (at least not this time). It is more important that it is finally finished.

If I am ever going to use this pattern again, I will exclude the sleeves as I don't like their look. Probably because of the gathering at the front and back.

Pyjamabroek / Pyjama pants

BurdaStyle 01/2006 #117
New comfy pants!

They are after the BurdaStyle 01/2006 #117 pattern, but with some changes:
-taped front and back leg parts together - quite easy as the original outer side seams are (almost) straight
-grain line moved to former outer side seam
-1cm seam allowance
-no hem allowance, as Burda pants are usually too long for me

-5cm wide waistband with elastic, instead of 8cm wide without any elastic
-5cm wide elastic - initial length ?cm, sewn together with 1,5cm overlap
-size waistband 1 size larger (?)
-no tunnel for elastic, but serged elastic and fabric all together at once

-cord made from same fabric as pants: started with 3x120cm of fabric, serged, turned, and finished off ends
-buttonholes for cord: 1,5cm long - 2,5cm from CF and ?cm from top of waistband
-1cm added to CB. Next time I will add 2 or 3cm to CF and 3 or 4cm to CB, as the waistband is 3cm smaller than original pattern

Fabric: Tricot

Sneeuwwitje / Snow White

Sneeuwwitje / Snow White

I loved making this Snow White dress! It is specially made for a little neighbor and the goal was to make this dress without any additional costs for supplies.
To start with, I used existing patterns, but altered them in such an extent that it is really custom-made. The sleeves were the most challenging part, but they turned out great and complete the dress.
Needless to say that the little neighbor, and her mother, loved the dress as well. She will even wear it to a party soon!

Swing pants

Finally finished! I had the intention to have them finished before the end of the Lindy Hop season, and they nearly were, except for the hems. For some reason it took about half a year before I had the courage to finally finish the pants - they had to be shortened quite a lot.
And I have to say I felt very, very proud when wearing them. Especially because I paired them with homemade suspenders.
Now I 'only' have to make the knit shirt I intend to wear with it (already bought the fabric, in a color matching the elastic of the suspenders) and the outfit is complete.

Edit (2016): the shirt is also done...see here.

Draagbare proefrok / Wearable muslin skirt

#103 - achter
I was thinking about making the Tea Dress (Burda 02/2014 #101) for a wedding, and made the Pleated A-line Skirt (#103 from the same issue) as a muslin. Because of the fit, I did not add the waist band to the skirt. Although I decided against making the dress for the wedding (made the Metallic Dress 12/2012 #112 instead), I have been wearing the (muslin) skirt twice since finishing it.

Bolletjes trui / Polka dot jersey

Bolletjes trui - voor
Bolletjes trui - achter

Bolletjes trui - detail
3/4 sleeve jersey tee, made from fabric that has been lying around for ages.
The pictures do not any justice to the shirt. It is very comfy to wear, partly thanks to the raglan sleeves, and I love the length of the sleeves and the shirt itself.

Niet storen / Do not disturb

Not completely happy with it, but, considering the time and effort put into making this night-shirt, it is good enough to sleep in and it looks cute nonetheless. ;-)
Unfortunately, I did not have enough fabric to finish the neckline properly. For this reason it is also shorter than the original dress pattern. I altered the hem: center front and back are a little bit longer than the sides.

Pattern: Flounce Dress (Burda 02/2013), without flounce (as I do not like it).
