First try of the Flare Leggings and I love how they look. The fit is OK, but next time I'll probably go one size up as it they are a little too tight around my upper legs and hips to be super comfortable.

Kirsten Kimono Tee

The Kirsten Kimono Tee is one of my favourite shirts.  I love how it fits and how versatile it is, depending on the fabric you use. 

This is one of the 'fancier' ones, with a slightly adjusted neckline. As usual I cut the neckline with a 2cm seam allowance, although I forgot to add extra space at the shoulder seams. So it would lie flat when folded in. Therefore I added a facing (correct English terminology? , beleg in Dutch).

As usual I also added 2cm to the lenght of the Tee.

Dolman sleeve top

Another of my favourite top patterns: the Dolmann sleeve top. 

This time I went for a slightly slimmer fit and made a size S instead of the usual M. I did make some adjustments: 

• Sleeves + 10cm
• Lentgh +4cm (2cm at waist and 2 at the hem)
• Front neckline size S at shoulderseam and size L center front (so it sits a little higher)

I am really looking forward to wearing this one when the weather cools down. Love the fall colours.

It's finally done! After almost 2 years I have completed a fully lined Sundance Jacket with large(r) pockets. 

Although I love the first Sundance Jacket I made, it is a little tight in some places (mainly the waist and the upper sleeves). As lining adds bulk, I decided to go one size up for the bust and hips, and two for the waist (compared to the first one that is a straight size S).

Test version of the Cami Tank. This is the full length version without the shelf bra. The back of the cami is pieced as I didn't have enough fabric for a 1-piece back (as it is supposed to be).

Chelsea Pants

Een hele fijne, comfortabele broek: de Chelsea Pants van Greenstyle Creations. Dit is de eerste keer dat ik dit patroon gebruik, maar zeker niet de laaste keer! Door de stofkeuze lijkt het een nette broek, maar zit zij zo comfortabel als een joggingbroek. De onderkant van de pijpen heb ik aangepast naar de wijdte van mijn favoriete jeans, waardoor de pijpen 6cm smaller geworden zijn.

Aanpassingen:

• 
  onderkant 6cm smaller gemaakt, naar voorbeeld van favoriete jeans. Patroon op 3 plaatsen ingeknipt tot knie-lijn en in de omtrek bij de zoom steeds 2cm verwijderd.

 

Those Chelsea pants by Greenstyle Creations are very, very comfortable, although they (almost) look like jeans or dress pants. I will certainly use this pattern again! The only adjustment that I made is narrowing the legs by 6cm, based on my favorite pair of jeans.

Alterations:

• removed 6cm of the width of the legs, by cutting the pattern from bottom to about the knee-line 3 times. At each cut, I removed 2cm of width at the bottom and tapered that towards the knee.

Blouse - BurdaStyle

Eindelijk af! Na een aantal jaren in de kast te hebben gelegen, is 'ie eindelijk af. Het enige wat nog moest gebeuren was het inzetten van de knoopdelen op de mouwen en de knopen van de voorsluiting.

Aangezien ik graag een blouse met voor- en achterpassen wilde, heb ik 2 patronen uit de BurdaStyle van 3/2013 gecombineerd. Dit was vrij gemakkelijk aangezien de basis van beide patronen hetzelfde is. De een is echter een blouse zonder pas, de ander meer een jurk maar met de schouderdelen die ik graag wilde.

Ik ben erg blij met het resultaat, al zal ik niet snel weer een blouse maken zonder kraag met staander. Met staander lijkt de kraag toch gemakkelijker mooi te vallen, zeker met een wat stevigere stof. Het voelt goed om een project dat al zo lang ligt van het 'to do'-lijstje te kunnen afstrepen en ik zal de blouse dan ook met veel plezier dragen.

Slim Dolman

As I love the dolman-type sleeve tops from Cation Designs, I decided to give Halla's slim dolman top a try as well.

To make a wearable muslin I used some fabric from stash with a little less stretch than what the pattern is designed for. According to the size chart I needed to grade from a 6/8 bust and waist to a 10/12 waist, so I did.

It fits reasonably well. Next time I'll probably widen the sleeves a little and shorten the waistband.

X-factor sport top

When I first saw pictures of the X-factor tankini/ bikini I fell in love with the design of the back. However, after purchasing the pattern it took me a long time to actually use it, because it did look a little intimidating to me. Looking for a smallish project I finally bit the bullet and made the bikini top, that I will wear as a sports top.

The sizing chart put me in a size S. Looking at other people's makes I noticed the top started relatively high under the arms. With other tops (of different pattern makers) I noticed I usually need some slightly larger armholes, so I decided to a 2cm to the straps (1cm in front and 1cm to the back). This also lowered the neckline slightly. No other alterations were made to the pattern at this time.

Putting the top together was not as intimidating as I thought it would be. The tutorial that comes with the pattern also includes a section on how to do the binding, which was very helpful.

The first fitting showed that the top was a little too long, so I took out 1cm (the one I added to the straps) at the bottom. I also noticed the bottom band and the elastic were too wide. Since I needed to remove the bottom band anyway, I shortened both the bottom band and the elastic by about 4cm. This gives a much better fit. For a more supportive feel I may need to size down or use a less stretchy fabric (the pattern calls for >50% both ways and I used an at least 75% stretch fabric). Next time, I'll probably make some more changes to the fit, but I'd like to get some wear out of this one before I do.

All in all, I am very happy with how this top turned out. Maybe an X-factor slim tank next time?
