De Dino muts (eigenlijk meer een Draken muts, maar goed...) (Child Small) bleek veel te klein voor de 4-jarige. Zelfs voor de 2-jarige was hij aan de kleine kant. Daarom besloot ik er nog eentje te maken, die wel zou passen, maar het bleef niet bij die ene. Het werden er 3.

De tweede muts (Adult Medium) zat mij vrij ruim op het hoofd en was dus veel te groot voor een kind. Aangezien de naaimachine het niet meer zo zag zitten en nogal wat steken oversloeg, had ik er niet zoveel zin in om weer aan de slag te gaan. Maar ik had een passende muts beloofd...

Vanwege de problemen bij het vinden van de goede maat, besloot ik eerst een 'Child Medium' te maken voor de 2-jarige. Daarna zou ik besluiten of dit de goede maat was voor een drakenmuts of dat Adult Small beter zou zijn. Gelukkig lag er nog een restje paarse dubbelzijdige fleece dat perfect was voor een klein meisje. Helaas had ik de problemen met de naaimachine tot dan toe nog niet op kunnen lossen. Tijdens het naaien van de laatste naad kwam ik erachter wat het probleem was en heb ik muts nr 4 (Adult Small) zonder problemen in elkaar kunnen zetten.

Gelukkig pasten deze mutsen wel goed.

The first fleece hat (Child Small) turned out to be too small for the 4-yr old, and almost too small for the 2-yr old. Therefore I decided to make another one. At least that's what I thought, it turned out to be 3 hats....
The second hat (Adult Medium) was way too big. It fitted me easily. Thanks to problems with my sewing machine I almost quit. Almost...because I promised the boy a fitting hat.

Due to the sizing issues, I thought it would be a good idea to make a size "Child Medium" for the 2-yr old first to check out the size. Lucky for me, there was some purple double-sided fleece in the stash. Perfect for the little girl. Unlucky for me, the sewing machine issues weren't over yet....
When stitching the last seam I finally found the source of the problems and I was able to sew the last hat (Adult Small) without trouble!

I'm happy to let you know that these hats fit their new owners perfectly.

Sporttop / Sports Bra - Jalie 2563B

Patroon: Jalie 2563B
Stof: Lycra & elastisch biaisband
Aanpassingen:
2 lagen lycra in plaats van voering + lycra voor het voorpand. Verder het patroon en de werkbeschrijving gevolgd.
Aangezien het elastiek nu vrij laag zit, haal ik de volgende keer een elastiek breedte van de onderkant van het patroon af.

Pattern: Jalie 2563B
Fabric: Spandex & fold-over elastic
Changes to front: 
2 layers of spandex, instead of lining + spandex. Otherwise I followed the pattern and the instructions (although the instructions for adding the elastic to the bottom of the bra seems to be missing for this model, but is described for the other sports top included in the pattern).
Next time I will shorten the bra by about the width of the elastic (~2,5cm), as it sits rather low now. 

Ontwerp showkleding - het resultaat / Design show costumes - the result

Het heeft even geduurd, maar eindelijk is het dan zover: de showkleding is klaar!

Anita van Show-dance DesignWear heeft eerst een proef-set voor ons gemaakt, zodat we konden zien hoe onze ontwerpen er in het echt uitzien en iedereen even kon passen voor de maatverdeling.

De pakjes en broeken

-6 unieke danspakjes (elk pakje heeft een ander accent rond de taille)
-6 rokjes (met variaties in kleurverdeling)
-6 leggings
-6 lange broeken

voor de heren:
-6 unieke shirts (elk shirt heeft andere accenten in het giletje)
-6 lange broeken

Helaas heb ik nog geen betere foto's van de kleding. Anita heeft echt goed werk geleverd, we zijn er super blij mee!

Yeah, it's done! The show costumes are ready!
Anita (Show-dance DesignWear) first made one complete set, so we could see how our designs turned out. When she brought them to our training location everyone could have a try in fitting to make it easier to determine final sizes.

The end result:
for the ladies:
-6 unique leotards (every leotard has a unique design around the waistline)
-6 petti-skirts (with variations in color-coding)
-6 leggings
-6 pair of pants

For the men:
-6 unique shirts (variations are in the vest)
-6 pair of pants

Unfortunately I do not have any better pictures. Anita did an excellent job and we are very, very happy with these new costumes!

Boys-time!

In een eerdere post is het ontwerp van de nieuwe dames showkleding al aan bod gekomen. In deze post wil ik graag een klein beetje aandacht besteden aan het ontwerp voor de heren.

Op een of andere manier zijn we het grootste gedeelte van onze tijd bezig met de ontwerpen voor de dames, maar nu is het eindelijk tijd voor de mannen...
Ook nu de paspop erbij gepakt en weer gaan spelen met linten en stukjes stof.

Dat het een shirt met een giletje gaat worden staat al vast en ook over de donkere broek zijn we het eens. Het giletje moet echter wel een geheel zijn met het shirt, aangezien er geen losse elementen aan de kleding mogen zitten die de dansers in gevaar zouden kunnen brengen.

Door te experimenteren met kleuren, kleurcombinaties, lengtes, en de posities van 'zakjes', zijn we weer een stuk wijzer geworden en hebben we een beter idee van waarmee we rekening moeten houden bij de stofkeuze.

In an earlier post, I reported a little about the design for the new show costumes for the ladies. In this post I would like to say a little about the new costumes for the men.

For some reason we spend most of our time on the designs for the woman, but finally it is time for the boys...Again I brought out the dress-form, ribbons, and some scraps of fabric. 
We already had the idea of the vest and dark trousers. (Because of the type of dancing we do, the vest has to be implemented into the shirt, so no loose pieces can get in the way and cause dangerous situations for both dancers.) 

Time to start playing with colors, color-combinations, and positions of 'pockets' again, as you can see in the picture.
