Haken, ik heb het lang uitgesteld onder het mom van "ik heb al genoeg hobbies", maar kon er nu, voor mijn gevoel, niet meer onderuit. Verschillende vriendinnen zijn al enthousiast aan het haken en op internet ben ik prachtige en inspirerende projecten tegengekomen. Daarnaast lijkt het er op dat ik door omstandigheden volgend jaar een groot deel van mijn tijd op de bank doorbreng.

Attic24 heb ik voor het
Neat Ripple Pattern gekozen om mee te beginnen. Het is een geweldige tutorial met veel foto's en goede beschrijvingen. Zelfs voor een beginner zoals ik, is het goed te begrijpen.
Van mijn moeder heb ik katoen, waarmee we vroeger vingerhaakten, gekregen en dat heb ik gebruikt voor dit project. Wat als proef begon, eindigde in een sjaal voor mijn nichtje. De gebruikte kleuren: paars, rose, mint/ groen en wit. Het golf patroon bleek erg leuk om te haken, net als Lucy van Attic24 al voorspeld had. Het werd nog leuker toen ik ontdekte dat er zeer waarschijnlijk (net) genoeg garen zou zijn voor een sjaal.
Al zeg ik het zelf: Ik ben erg trots op mezelf en op het resultaat van dit allereerste haak-project. Mijn nichtje is dan ook heel erg blij met haar nieuwe sjaal in haar favoriete kleuren.

I finally gave it a try: crochet. I have been thinking about it for quite some time now, but always countered it with "I don't need another hobby". So, what's changed? Well, I have been talking about crochet with several enthusiastic friends, have found some beautiful projects on the internet, and due to circumstances I will probably be spending a lot of time on the couch next year.
Inspired by the colorful blankets made by Attic24, I decided to give it a try and chose the Neat Ripple Pattern. It is a great tutorial with lots of pictures and good descriptions. Even for a newbie like me, it is easy to understand.
Mum brought me some of the cotton we used to finger crochet with, so that's what I used for what turned out to be a scarf for my little niece. The colors I used: purple, pink, mint/green, and white. Perfect for a little girl! The ripple pattern turned out to be a lot of fun, just as Lucy of Attic24 describes. It became even more fun when I discovered that the amount of cotton should (just) be enough for a scarf.
I have to say: I am really proud of myself and of how this first-ever crochet project turned out.
(Almost) needless to say that my little niece was very, very happy with her new scarf.
